Skills analysis
Stage: Intermediate
Stage Characteristics: This skill is intermediate because of the coordination that is involved and because it is possible for younger athletes to perform. Crossovers to get momentum for the throw are required. The arm that holds the javelin should be straight. When you reach the point to release the javelin you should plant the foot and thrust your hips forward.
What to change: I would change when the thrower makes his plant and release he plants is foot harder. In the video he runs through the release causing him to step forward. In competition if you step over the line it would cause a scratch and the throw would not count.
Cues: I would tell him to keep his momentum up and to make sure to thrust his hips forward.
