3-step drop w/ pass

Stage: Intermediate

Stage Characterisitic: QB shuffled back. He also needs to keep ball high by his head and ready to throw.

What to Change: Steps need to be cross-over steps, not a shuffle back. Also keep ball high which makes for a quicker release.

Cue: don't shuffle

3 step drop with pass

Stage:Intermediate

Stage Characteristics:The quarterback shuffeled back for his drop step and holds the ball pretty low by his shoulder

What to Change:The quarterback needs to get a big first step for depth then 2 short steps by crossing your feet. He also needs to be ready to throw and have a quick release by holding the ball with two hands by his head.

Cue:Work on footwork on the drop

3 step with pass

Stage: Beginner

Stage Characteristics: Player does not finish the drop back with the proper foot work. His legs need to cross with the last two steps instead of his shuffle. Then he also needs to follow through with his throw.

What to change: Make sure that the player's 3 step drop is correct.

Cue: Be in control of your feet.

3332 Three step drop pass
Stage: Beginner/Intermediate
Stage characteristics: Quarterback makes three motion steps back however using improper foot positioning. He does however know his target area and is able to produce power in his throw.
What to change: Quarterback needs to remember cross over steps and scan from left to right as he’s dropping back.
Cue: Scan and cross over steps.

3 Step Drop Correction

Stage: Intermediate/
Characteristics: Ball needs to be up high for better release point and hand better positioned on the ball.
Change: Not a shuffle, but a cross over three step drop. And the single big thing is to make sure that with the first initial step that they QB drives back and should make that the single biggest step to help get depth.
Cue: Drive off the ball hard.

3-step drop

Stage: intermediate

Characteristics: Introduction to 3-step drop. Student's steps are incorrect, student shuffles and does not perform a 3-step. This is an introduction to the drop, but is technically incorrect. Drop falls apart after the initial reach step.

Change: Focus on the 3 steps. Reach step, crossover, plant. Focus should be depth on the first step (1) Cross over (2) plant and drive (3).

Cue: Reach, gather, drive.
