Comments
serve
Stage: Beginner
Stage Characteristics: Simple form and movement. slight arm swing
What to Change: The video doesn't show how to serve at all. The action it too quick and there is not verbal cues or discriptions. This is a poor discription of how to serve for beginners but I do think that this is a beginner action.
Cue: Contact the birdie with the middle of the racket
PES 494 Video Analysis
Stage: This is defiantly a beginner to the sport/skill
Stage Characteristics: Her approach is not set; she just seems to be walking and then hits a serve. It doesn’t even appear to be the correct serving line for badminton. She does however display good wrist movement. Only uses her arm a little which is good.
What to change: The quickness of the serve. There is no preparation. The video gives no feedback or details whether it is correct form or not. The server could seem more prepared and display the correct action.
Cue: “approach” I would change her approach completely and make it look like a correct serve not just have her walking around and randomly serve.
Badminton serve Analysis
Stage Characteristics: The way that she serves is very rushed. The video doesn't give the viewer a chance to see what is really going on, the server appears to just step up and hit the birdie. She sets her feet for a barely even a second and then serves the birdie. The motion looked pretty good there was a good amount of wrist action versus using her entire arm.
Badminton Analysis
I would say the performer is a beginner; her stance is reversed, her weight is on her front foot and there is no weight transfer as she serves. In order to correct this I would have her turn her opposite shoulder towards her serving target, shift her weight to her back foot, and have her shift her weight forward as she hits the shuttle across the net. The cue I would use to help her with this is shift forward.

Backhand Serve
Stage: Intermediate
Characteristics: Using the backhand serve, and from the camera angle is appears to clear the net, although I'm not sure if it lands in the proper court or not.
What to change: Serving players must be set before putting the shuttle in play, so she can't walk into the serve like that
Cue: Stand still, drop shuttle straight down
