Stage: Intermediate Stage
Stage: Intermediate
Stage Characteristics: Starting with the right foot and this is the same as the arm that he throws with. He also has very good balance as he goes through all four steps.
What to Change: The way that he goes up on his toes to start, because its hard to be consistant with a move like that.
Cue: Stay balanced.
Intermediate
- The skill level that this bowler is at is intermediate
- A couple of features of the movement that are characteristics of an intermediate bowler are; he ends up near the middle of the alley with his left foot(his slide foot) and he started much farther right of where he finished. His back swing is very short and abbreviated instead of having a long smooth backswing. He also raises up on both feet before taking the first step instead of just starting by moving with swing foot or the foot that you do not throw off of.
- The most important aspect of the skill that he needs to improve on is his backswing. A longer backswing will allow him to get greater speed and accuracy on the ball because he will be using fewer muscles to throw the ball down the alley and will allow those muscles to help with stability of the arm while bowling. And with increased backswing height it takes less muscle power to get speed on the ball because of the help of gravity.
- Cue- get height on backswing
4-Step Approach
Stage:Intermediate
Stage Characteristics: Using a four step approach, using a slow rhythm with his steps, feet are parallel
What to Change: Needs to speed up his footwork
Cue: Faster rhythm
4 step approach
Stage: Intermediate
Stage characteristics- the man seems very comfortable doing the approach. He is very well balanced. His form is also good.
What to change: he is very stiff when he is setting up his approach. He also needs to follow through all the way. Have a higher back swing.
Cues:Follow through, bend
4 step bowling
I think this person is in the advanced level for this skill.
1) He stands tall with the ball held in front of his body. His right foot is lined up with the mark on which he wants to place the bowling ball.
2) The first step is taken with the favorite foot, and the last step is taken with the opposite foot.
3) The opposite foot does a short "slide' when he releases the ball - this ensures a smooth release and is safer for his leg and body.
4) He bends at the waist for a smooth and accurate release of the ball.
Cues I would use to teach this skill -
1) Strong foot back (just slightly, but the weight is on this foot and allows for a stronger push forward)
2) Eyes on arrows (know which arrows you want to put the ball on and focus on them)
3) Slide and drop (opposite foot takes the last step and slides a little while you bend your knees and release the ball)
Analysis five
Stage: Intermediate level
Stage Characteristics: The person uses a good follow through and crosses their leg in the back, you would not see this with a beginner.
What to Change: The person could say what they are doing, move slowly though it first pointing out the four steps. Then do it faster to show how it is supposed to flow.
Cue: A cue for this move would be to follow through, and keep your eyes looking at where you want the ball to go.
4 step
Level: Intermediate-Advanced
Characteristics: Bowler understands correct foot step pattern and release. Crossever that shows experience.
What to change: slower pacing to keep control
Cues: eyes, feet all directed at pins.
Skills Analysis
Stage: Intermediate
Stage Characteristics: Good form - steps are even and straight, toes are pointed towards pins, right foot crosses when the bowler releases the ball.
What to Change: Bend the knees a little more, swing the ball back further to gain power when the the ball is released, follow through with the right arm.
Cue: Follow through
